On May 17th, 2008 - We had a busy day. We picked up Matt's girl friend Chanelle and drove up north to meet my sister and her children for dinner. She was almost an hour late. We had finished our meal and were having desert when she arrived. We had a good laugh over the whole thing. We then drove further north to the Ice Center at the Promenade in Westminster. Lisa had her first hockey game. Sheila and her boys joined us to watched Lisa and her team win the game in overtime. Lisa and I then raced back into Denver to catch an amazing concert.
It was a treat to hear the Colorado Symphony along with the Symphony Orchestra Chorus and the Colorado Children's Chorale perform Carl Orff's, Carmina Burana. The solo performances of Joanna Mongiardo (Soprano) and Robert Orth (Baritone) were simply AMAZAING!!! I wanted to marry Joanna by the end of the performance. She was moving in every way. Lisa and I had performed pieces from Carmina Burana with the Denver Women's Chorus and the Denver Gay Men's Chorus last year. It was great fun. We couldn't miss seeing Fortuna performed professionally (Here is a link to a video of Fortuna on YouTube from the movie 300). It was absolutely fantastic!!! There is nothing to compare to seeing and hearing a performance live. It is the absolute best thing for the soul. I found my self walking out with my heart leaping from my chest and a smile on my face. The music and the movement soaked into my soul and left joy behind.
We drove back up to Westminster to pick up Matt and Chanelle from my mother's home. She was waiting for us with Korean food. We could hardly leave without sitting down to chat with her and enjoy the wonderful food she had prepared for us.
It was a busy and wonderful day.
